John L. Shahdanian II and Richard D. Trenk Named to 2026 New Jersey Super Lawyers "Top 100" List

Trenk Isabel Siddiqi & Shahdanian, P.C. congratulates firm Directors John L. Shahdanian II and Richard D. Trenk on being named to the “Top 100: New Jersey Super Lawyers” list in the 2026 edition of New Jersey Super Lawyers®.

Each year, Super Lawyers selects attorneys through a patented multiphase process that includes peer nominations, independent research, and peer evaluations. Candidates are assessed on 12 indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement, with the Top 100 list representing the attorneys who receive the highest overall point totals in the state.

“With two attorneys from the firm included this year, 20 percent of Trenk Isabel’s partners earned placement on the prestigious Top 100 list, underscoring the firm’s strong reputation within the New Jersey legal community,” said firm Director Asaad Siddiqi. Shahdanian chairs the firm’s Labor and Employment Law Group and provides counsel to employers about day-to-day business operations and staff management as well as complex matters related to discrimination claims, disability claims, sexual harassment, whistleblowing, noncompete clauses, wage and hour, family leave, and private sector labor law. He is extremely active with the New Jersey State Bar Association (NJSBA) and Bergen County Bar Association and has held numerous leadership positions within both organizations. He serves as first vice-chair of the NJSBA’s Labor & Employment Section and is a member of the Judicial Administration and Legislative standing committees. Shahdanian is also secretary of the Bergen County Bar Association and serves as the co-chair of the Labor & Employment Law Section.

Trenk is chair of the firm’s Bankruptcy and Corporate Restructuring practice and a seasoned litigator who has handled hundreds of bankruptcy and business reorganization cases, including complex Chapter 11 cases involving hundreds of millions of dollars in assets. He is frequently retained as an expert witness in bankruptcy-related matters and recently tried bid litigation involving more than $100 million to conclusion. Trenk also brings significant public sector experience, serving as township attorney for West Orange for more than 25 years and as special counsel to numerous municipalities. A respected leader in the legal community, he is a co-founder of the Bankruptcy Inn of Court for the District of New Jersey, a former president of the Essex County Bar Association and a frequent lecturer on bankruptcy law.
