Celebrating Women's History... and Future.

Trenk Isabel Siddiqi & Shahdanian PC is a proud supporter of Women’s History Month and delighted to showcase how generations before have inspired our women attorneys – and how Juliana, Erin, Sabrina, and Valentina, in turn, incorporate that wisdom in their current approach to client service.

What’s a piece of legal wisdom or strategy you’ve learned along the way that you wish more women knew?

Don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone. It can be intimidating to go to an event where you don’t know other people or take on an assignment that is outside your typical area. By getting comfortable with uncomfortable, you are able to not only gain valuable work experience, but you will also gain confidence so the next time an opportunity arises it will be just a little less intimidating.

I have learned that being a lawyer can look like many different things and can change over time. Being a better lawyer starts with being the best version of yourself, not trying to be anyone else.

~Erin F. Duffin

It’s okay to stand up for yourself and never apologize for doing so. You are your own best advocate. If you do not have the courage to stand up for yourself, who will?

~Sabrina R. Santamaria

Be confident in whatever you do! It is important to maintain confidence amongst your peers and adversaries.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received from another woman in the legal field?

Find a network of mentors. As your career evolves, you will need different kinds of advice; by surrounding yourself with a variety of mentors, you can have support and guidance at each step of your career.

~Juliana C. Canevascini

“Just introduce yourself.” Growing a community and a network starts somewhere, and being from out of the state, I started to build mine by simply introducing myself.

~Erin F. Duffin

You belong in every room you enter. As women, we cannot allow others to make us feel inferior or as if we do not belong in that space.

~Sabrina R. Santamaria

Know your worth in the profession. Women are capable of doing anything they put their mind to and can do anything that their male counterpart can do. It is important to recognize your worth, knowledge and experiences that you bring to the profession.
